A high-profile panel at an upcoming Insider event will discuss the importance of getting Chester's cultural and hospitality offering right in order to attract top-quality businesses and staff.
The Invest in Chester breakfast on 26 October 2016 will gather representatives from some of the top tourism and hospitality providers along with key names in local business to discuss the city's overall offer and how to attract investment.
Tomas Maunier, co-founder at Picanha and Fazenda restaurants, will speak at the event. His City District Group already has the highly successful Fazenda chain in cities including Manchester and Liverpool.
The group is set to open Picanha, its first restaurant in Chester, in November. He will discuss the opportunities in Chester and the company's plans.
Liz Carnie, finance director at Chester Zoo, will also join Insider's panel. She will discuss the zoo's growth plans to increase its contribution to the Chester economy and the importance of the tourism to Chester's offering.
A string of other big-name speakers will take part in the debate as well including: Phil Mayall, development director at Muse Developments; and Stephen Miller, managing director of Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Chester. The discussion will also feature: Pippa Adams, managing director of design and marketing company Prodo Digital; James Miller, chief people officer at GBG; and Richard Thomas, partner at DTM Legal.
Thomas has held a number of positions within the Chester business community including chairman of North Wales Chamber of Commerce and former director of West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce.
He said: "It is the responsibility of Chester businesses to hold the local authorities to account and make sure joined-up thinking leads to positive steps forward for Chester's economy."
Attendees will also hear from Tom Williams, executive MBA director at the University of Chester. Williams will discuss raising management skills in Chester and how the university is tailoring its offering to match demand.
