Sci-Tech Daresbury grows with Techspace One completion

Date added: 16/02/2017

Work on a new business facility at Sci-Tech Daresbury hit a fresh milestone this week.

The construction of the three-storey Techspace One scheme has now reached practical completion.

The site houses 46,000 sq ft of space across wet and dry labs, Grade-A offices, meeting hubs and break areas. It will be occupied by enterprises from sectors such as biomedical, materials, process technology, clean technology and others.

Tenants will have access to fume extraction, liquid waste disposal facilities and areas for the storage of materials and gas bottles.

Techspace One will also have an on-site supply of compressed air, nitrogen and natural gas, along with ground-level laboratories offering external door access.

Accommodation will be available in units of between 900 sq ft and 2,400 sq ft.

Sci-Tech Daresbury bosses said the new building is already attracting significant interest from leading companies, following a record year for the development in which it attracted 34 businesses.

Today, the Cheshire-based science and technology park is now home to 114 companies.

Techspace One’s sister development, Techspace Two, opened last September.

It is estimated that together, both buildings will bring around 350 jobs to the campus.

Sci-Tech Daresbury represents a partnership between developer Langtree, Halton Borough Council and the Science and Technology Facilities Council.

Neal Biddle, group development director at Langtree and board director of Sci-Tech Daresbury, said: "We’re delighted that the Techspace project is now complete and look forward to welcoming more new businesses to Sci-Tech Daresbury.

"Techspace One, together with its sister building provide grade A office accommodation and the highest specification laboratory space and will help cement our reputation as a hot house of excellence, championing technology within the sector and a dedicated focus on open innovation.”

Langtree group property director, Jayne Furnival, commented: "Both of these facilities offer businesses unrivalled opportunities to collaborate with like-minded businesses, to access professional and scientific expertise and to identify valuable partnership opportunities all of which will aid the rapid commercialisation of innovation.
