A Helsby-based firm is in the running to receive the UK’s highest accolade for business success.
Heat Trace, a cable manufacturer, is bidding for the Queen’s Award for Enterprise with the support of Cheshire West and Chester Council and the Local Enterprise Partnership.
The company, which exports to markets around the world, has applied for the award under the Innovation category, which requires firms to demonstrate outstanding or continuous innovation
Council leader Mike Jones visited the firm to find out more about the award bid.
Cllr Jones said: "Since relocating to Helsby in 2003, Heat Trace has become a real local success story.
"The firm’s ongoing investment in research and development has resulted in a unique and innovative range of products and systems – many of which have been specifically developed to meet the needs of rail networks around the world.
"Our economic development team has been working with Heat Trace for some time to provide support in key business areas and we are delighted to back their application for the Queen’s Award for Enterprise. We wish them the very best of luck.”
Heat Trace employs around 45 staff at its Helsby headquarters and runs an apprenticeship programme.
Announced on the Queen’s birthday, the awards are made each year by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, on the advice of the Prime Minister.
