Profits surge at A-Plant owner

US and European vehicle and equipment hire company Ashtead Group has reported record half year profits of £266m, an increase of 33% on the previous year. The company, which owns Warrington-based A-Plant said revenues in the six months to October 31 surged 23% to £987.3m. Operating profit and revenues at the UK business, which is much smaller than Sunbelt - Ashtead's US operation - showed healthy growth in the first half. Operating profits surged from £17.4m to £29.7m as  sales rose 18% from £138.2m ..
