Cheshire West and Chester Council is raising awareness with local businesses that the temporary Retail Rate Relief Scheme is ending on March 31, 2016.
The two year scheme, introduced by the Government in April 2014, saw certain retail businesses such as shops, cafes, restaurants and drinking establishments getting reductions of up to £1,000 in the first year of the scheme and up to £1,500 in year two.
Letters were issued to all qualifying businesses in March 2015 letting them know that the relief would end in March 2016 and a further letter was sent to all qualifying businesses in early February re-iterating this message.
These businesses will see an increase of up to £1,500 to the amount payable from April 1, 2016.
