UNITED Utilities, the water company, hailed a "good set of financial results" despite a fall in half year profits. The Warrington-based group, the North West's biggest company by market value, said it would be investing £800m in the region this year - including £100m on solar energy schemes to drive its own sustainability. Solar panels will be installed on top of buildings UU owns, on vacant land, and even on platforms on a reservoir, the company said.
